Privacy Notice

Jardins dHeva is built as plain, pre-made pages. Nothing on it asks you to sign in, nothing counts your clicks and nothing follows you to other websites. This notice sets out the few points where information about readers is touched at all, and what you can ask of us.

The team in charge

The writers who run Jardins dHeva are the controller for the small amount of data described below. Privacy questions go to desk@jardinsdheva.com, the same inbox we use for everything else.

Things this blog leaves out on purpose

  • No statistics package, visitor counter or session recording of any sort.
  • No adverts, ad exchanges or affiliate tracking scripts.
  • No share buttons, embedded feeds or pixels that report your visit to a social network.
  • No member logins, comment boxes or mailing lists, so no reader profiles sit on our side.
  • No selling, renting or trading of anyone's details, ever.

Your banner answer

The storage bar at the foot of each page asks one question. Whichever button you choose is written to your browser's local storage, which is how later pages know not to ask again. That note lives on your own computer or phone; it is not transmitted to us, and it holds your answer and nothing more. Wiping the site data for jardinsdheva.com in your browser removes it. The page What Your Browser Keeps walks through this step by step.

Logs kept by our hosting

A hosting company delivers these pages on our behalf. Its systems note routine details about every request as a matter of course: the requesting IP address, a timestamp, which page was fetched, the browser's user-agent string and the status returned. Those records serve stability and abuse prevention, they are held only briefly, and we make no attempt to identify readers from them. The lawful ground for this is legitimate interest: a blog that stays reachable and secure.

Emails you send us

Writing to us, either directly or through the form on Reach Us (that form just hands a pre-filled draft to your mail app), means we end up with your email address, whatever name you add and the message itself. We use that solely to deal with what you wrote about. When the conversation has run its course, the thread is deleted, unless a legal claim obliges us to keep it longer. Please do not put sensitive personal details in an email to us.

Leaving for another site

Several articles point to outside websites. Those destinations run under their own privacy terms, which are worth a look before you share anything with them.

What you are entitled to

If you are protected by the GDPR, in its UK or EU form, you can:

  • find out whether we process any data about you and get a copy of it;
  • ask for wrong details to be put right;
  • ask for deletion once there is no valid reason for us to keep something;
  • put limits on how we handle your data, or object to that handling outright;
  • take information you gave us elsewhere in a common, machine-readable form;
  • lodge a complaint with your national or regional supervisory authority.

An email to the address above is enough to start any of these. We answer within the legal deadlines and may check that the request really is yours before acting on it.

Younger readers

The blog is meant for adult readers, and we make no attempt to collect information about anyone under age.

Updates

Should the way the blog works ever change, this page will be revised before anything new goes live.
